Be Prepared<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Do not tackle anything which is beyond your training and experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ensure that your equipment is sound.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Know the rescue facilities available in the area you are in and the procedure in case of accidents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • know First Aid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Avoid going into the mountains alone unless you are very experienced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Leave word of your route and proposed time of return. Always report you return.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Make sure your map and compass skills are well practiced. Rely on your compass.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Consider Other People<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    • No game shooting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Lead only climbs and walks you are competent to do so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Enjoy the quiet of the countryside; loud voices and radios do disturb.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Do not throw stones and dislodge boulders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Do not pollute water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Choose a climb which will not interfere with others or wait your turn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

       Be Weather Wise<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      • Know the local weather forecast.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Weather conditions change rapidly. Do not hesitate to turn back.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Know the conditions on the mountains; if there is snow or ice only go out when you have mastered the use of ice axe and rope.    <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Respect the land<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        • Keep to footpaths through farm and forests. If in doubt ask or wait for someone to pass by.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Camp on official sites or obtain permission of the owner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Dig a hole to make a latrine and replace the turf.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Remember the danger of starting a fire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Take all your litter home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Avoid starting sheep and cattle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Help Conserve Wild Life<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          • Enjoy the plants, flowers and trees but never remove or damage them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
