Karakoram Pass Part I
Karakoram Pass Part I
Visit of Dalai lama to Leh the capital of Ladakh region
Well , praying never stops.
What a view of Leh from the road leading to Khardung la.
We have just crossed the Khardung la.
Khardung village was an excellent stop before moving ahead.
The lower Shyok river valley comes into view as we move down from Khardung village.
The kings of the region are all set to take us to the heavenly heights.
Nubra river flowing past Sasoma is no lesser to Shyok in might.
The trail along the left bank of Tulumputi river after we had crossed the Tulumputi la.
This is one of the fast flowing nala’s we had to cross.
The Mamostong glacier.
Tulumputi river from the high ground where we turn right towards Saser la.
Our camp II had lovely views of snow covered peaks.
The horse train moves on towards the camp before Saser la..
We came this way.
Is this Saser la.
What a way this glacier ends.
Our camp III before the Saser la was next to this lake.
These hardy soles were always happy.
Some where beyond these mountains lies Saser Kangri group.
Mule train coming down the first snow and Ice slope seen from Camp III.
Between first and second Ice slopes was this small lake. Our way was on the other side of this Ice slope.
The top of Saser la with hardly any snow.
The gravel slope continued all the way down from Saser la to the upper Shyok river valley.
The glacier also continued for some distance.
The upper Shyok river comes into sight as we move down the slope.
Looking towards head of the valley before getting down to the Shyok river.
Is this the only way to cross the river.
