By walk crossing the steep Parfi la (3950M). Stay in tents.
The first of six passes one has to cross on this trek. After climbing the
pass you get down the other side on the zigzag trail and reach the bridge
after which again the climb begins. Once on top take look of the huge rock
faces across the valley. The camping ground of Snertse is quite barren.
However, the water of the stream is very sweet and the willows grow along
the stream. |

By walk crossing over the Haluma la (5000M). Stay in tents.
The trail starts to climb slowly along the stream and finally you are on
the other side of the source. Slowly you reach the pass and the view opens
up in front. The colour of rocks is something to be seen. The lush
green fields are calling you. However, you still have long way to go to
the camping ground next to the Gampa. |

It is good climb upto Kupa la. Thereafter it is not much problem.
The Singi la camp is just before a stream as the trail starts to climb up. |

By walk crossing the Singi (5060 M) and Bhumtse la (4490M). Stay in
tents. Well, after crossing Singi la you get good view of the valley on
the other side and in distance the other la to be crossed. Get down on the
other side and follow the trail. It crosses a wide stream coming from your
left and then slowly climbs upto the Bhumtse la. From here the view of
Singi la is fantastic. Across you get the fields of the village which is
actually across the river. Move along the river for sometime and then
cross over to the camping ground located on the other side. A very big
ground. |

By walk crossing the Sirsir la (4900M). Stay in tents.
The trail continues in the direction away from the village and as you
reach the corner and turn right there is a wall in front at a distance.
Yes, you are going to climb up this wall. Slowly you are below the wall
and the climb starts. The horses take a bit longer route to the right. At
top you have finished the big passes of the route and are moving down all
the way to the village. Stop at the camping ground before the village. |

starts to crop up with boards of Hotels. You pass right through the
village and finally reach the open trail where road construction is going
on. Walking along this road you reach Wanla. Wanla is only 05 Kms from
main Kargil Leh road and you can move to Leh from here at the expense of
missing Lamayuru. |

By walk. Move out of Wanla towards the trail to
Lamayuru. The trail passes through the narrow dried river bed. Finally the
trail starts to climb and short time latter you are on the last pass of
the trek. Did you hear it, yes it was the noise of the heavy traffic
moving on the Kargil Leh road. You have reached Lamayuru and the road
head. Visit the Lamayuru Gompa, which is the oldest monastery in
Ladakh. Stay in tents. |
